Parents and Children

Support tailored to your family’s needs using evidence-based psychological approaches.

Parenting can be one of the most rewarding roles in life – but it can also feel overwhelming, especially when your child is struggling or family life becomes challenging.

Our Parenting and Child service is designed to help you understand what’s going on, strengthen relationships, learn therapeutic skills and feel more confident in how you support your child.

We work collaboratively with you to create meaningful, lasting change within your family.

Who is this for?

This service may be helpful if you:

  • Feel unsure how to support your child or teenager
  • Are noticing ongoing emotional or behavioural difficulties
  • Feel stuck despite trying different approaches
  • Want to strengthen your relationship with your child

Would like practical, evidence-based guidance

How we work

We begin with 1-2 initial sessions (90 minutes each) to develop a clear understanding of your situation. This includes:

This includes:

  • Exploring what’s currently feeling difficult
  • Understanding how these challenges may have developed
  • Identifying what may be maintaining the difficulties
  • Recognising strengths within your family

This stage ensures that the support we offer is tailored and effective.

Formulation & Personalised Plan

Following assessment, we develop a shared understanding (formulation) of your situation, alongside a personalised plan.

This provides a clear direction for therapy and ensures that sessions are focused on what matters most to you and your family.

Therapeutic Support

We use a range of evidence-based approaches, depending on your needs, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Parent–child relationship approaches
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • EMDR (where indicated)

Sessions may focus on parents, children, or both – depending on what will be most helpful.
